Crossover definition marketing12/2/2023 ![]() If you communicate to both internal and external audiences. This is particularly true if you know you’ll want to dig into reporting to understand trends and performance separately for these audiences (and not just the campaigns you send to them) over time. If you market to both vendors and buyers-or 2 distinctly different types of customers-through Mailchimp, it may be best to keep these audiences separate. If you have a B2B and B2C side to your business. Here are a couple of examples where separate audiences may be the best option for your business: The most tell-tale sign is when you start to see distinctly different subsets of people you need to communicate with, with no crossover in contacts or messages you’d want to send to both. While growth in itself isn’t a good reason to create additional audiences, some businesses may notice trends as they grow that do justify a need to create more than 1 audience in Mailchimp. When to create a second (or third) audience With one view of your contacts and one complete record of their engagement history, it’s easier to decide if it’s time to re-engage or archive contacts. ![]() It makes it easier to maintain your contact data as you grow. When you have a central location to look for details about your people, data is unlikely to get siloed or overlooked-or lost in the shuffle of moving data from one audience into another (and this is particularly important if you’re using GDPR forms to collect consent). Continuing to add contacts to your existing audience can help you spot changing patterns in your data at a glance-and find new ways to talk to people as your audience evolves. Just because your business is growing doesn’t mean you need to create new audiences. ![]() You can keep tabs on trends-and quickly take action. Rather than replicating content across siloed audiences, just select everyone you want to send to-all in 1 send. Not only does maintaining 1 audience make sending to tags and segments more effective, it also makes it a lot easier if you do want to send a message to your entire audience. A single audience makes it easier to use tools like tags and segments to organize insights about subsets of contacts while still keeping an eye on your audience as a whole, and lets you use pre-built segments with confidence, knowing you’re reaching everyone who meets a particular criteria.Ī single audience simplifies sending. Targeting is more effective with all your contact data in 1 place. But seeing trends across your entire audience is helpful for businesses at any stage of growth. Particularly if your business is just starting out, having 1 audience helps you see a clearer picture of who you’re talking to, and who you should be talking to ( it may not be what you’d expect). It helps you get a better understanding of your people. This holistic view is important for your marketing for several key reasons: Having all your data in one place within Mailchimp creates a single source of truth for insights about your people, making it much easier to get an understanding of who your audience is as a whole.

Rainbow colors indigo meaning12/2/2023 ![]() Sharing the same first half as “multicolored,” multihued tacks on the Latin prefix for “many” to the word hued. Defined as “being of different colors combined,” motley also suits a rainbow quite well, especially in the unity of various colors to make something spectacular. This kind of outfit would be called motley. If you imagine a jester from an old European medieval court, you’ll probably picture someone dressed in form-fitting patchwork clothing, usually of different colors. While not exactly the same as rainbow, holographic has been informally adapted into everyday language to refer to how something is particularly shiny or able to reflect or refract light into different colors, like a rainbow. The original word underlying holographic is hologram, which comes from the Greek words hólos, or “whole,” and – graphos, or “writing” or “drawing.” A hologram is a three-dimensional image created by light that reflects off an object. So many colors, where to begin? How about reviewing these synonyms for orange. In an art class, you might refer to all the colors of a rainbow collectively as the color spectrum. Spectrum was first recorded in the 1600s in English from the Latin word for “appearance” or “form” and is related to the Latin specere (“to look at, regard”). You’ll often be able to see or interpret the band of colors produced when the spectrum passes through a refracting medium such as a prism or, in the case of a naturally occurring rainbow, water droplets. Spectrum refers to an array of entities, such as light waves or particles, ordered in accordance with the magnitudes of a common physical property, such as wavelength or mass. This particular word for rainbow doesn’t come from any mythos or old legends but rather cold, hard physics. Considering that a rainbow is refracted through droplets of water in the air, referring to it as having prismatic colors is accurate. The word prismatic, then, describes the result of that light passing through a prism. prismaticĪ prism is a transparent solid body that can reflect and even refract rays of light into its different natural colors. Maybe you even played with one of these as a kid! The adjective kaleidoscopic refers to the changing and variety of colors we see in a rainbow. This results in a continually changing pattern of shapes and colors. kaleidoscopicĪ kaleidoscope is an optical instrument in which bits of glass, held loosely at the end of a rotating tube, are shown in continually changing symmetrical forms by reflection in mirrors set at angles to each other. If you have a rainbow in your horizon, you know right away it’s nothing short of multicolored! Multicolored dates back to at least the 1800s and combines the Latin prefix for “many” ( multi- ) with the word color, which itself dates back to the late 1200s. With the Greek prefix of poly- meaning “many” and the Latin word chromaticus, also originally from Greek khrōmatikos, meaning “color,” polychromatic literally sums up to “many colors.” When rainbows contain at least seven visible colors (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet), polychromatic definitely fits the description! multicolored Here are 13 vivid words and phrases you can use when describing a rainbow. Debuted in 1978, the original LGBTQ+ pride flag featured eight colors (hot pink, red, orange, yellow, green, turquoise, indigo, violet) each with a specific meaning assigned to it (sex, life, healing, sunlight, nature, magic, serenity, and spirit, respectively).Īnd so, for just as many colors make up a rainbow, we can find just as many synonyms. ![]() In the US, the month of June brings out more rainbow flags in celebration of LGBTQ+ community pride. But the assorted cultural significance of rainbows is just as colorful as the arc itself. For some, they symbolize divine oaths or a bridge between heaven and earth others see them as foreboding omens. Created from light refracting through a water droplet, the stunning by-product is a stunning display of color in the sky.Īround the world, human societies have assigned a variety of interpretations to rainbows. Rainbows are perhaps the most eye-catching of natural phenomena. For too long too many of us have been afraid of what we didn’t understand, but the reality is that our spiritual power is an innate part of us – it is our birth right and I think it is about time we talk about it. I stand firm in spirituality and the history that many from the diaspora hold dear. The older I get, the more in tune and aligned I am with my spiritual beliefs and my ancestors. As a Latina, my personal history has often merged the traditional ideas of spirituality with the not always talked about bruja side of our family. I spoke with the body astrologer a few weeks ago and I wanted to add in another interview that spoke deeper on the concept of magic. People seem to want to be a part of something bigger or at the very least, pursue endeavors that are fulfilling and leave this world a little better. I feel like the concept of make and create connects so well to these because so many of us are looking to create a fulfilling lifestyle that goes beyond the typical make money, spend it, and die. This week is a continuation of exploring careers and journeys that are outside of the norm and that have a spiritual vibe to them. April gemstone12/2/2023 The gem is used for necklaces, broaches, rings, and bracelets. For hundreds of years diamonds have been used for engagement and wedding rings, but it is also fashionable for everyday wear. It has long been stated that a diamond is a girl’s best friend. In addition to South Africa and other African nations, locations like Russia, Australia, and Canada play a role in today’s supply chain. Other deposits were discovered in South Africa in the late 1800s. It’s believed that diamonds were first discovered in India before Brazil became an important factor in the gem’s supply chain in the 1700s. Diamonds are found in a few different locations: rock, alluvial deposits, glacial tills, and kimberlite pipes.īut diamonds are hard to come by, evident by the fact that the average yield from a diamond mine is 1 part diamond to 1 million parts rock. Art from UK-based Lucy Shearston keeps up the restaurant’s colourful, casual aesthetic. The original café’s cantilevered bench seating was mirrored on the new side, the green wall got a coat of yellow paint, and Bidgood added chrome Pablo pendants and wall sconces from Andlight for a little extra sunshine. “The vibe in there is so casual and so lively, we thought it would be fun to do a bleacher-style kind of take on the restaurant seating,” she says. To maximize space, Bidgood installed a type of seating you’d more typically expect from a high school gymnasium. They painted corrugated metal a matte powder blue, and used it both for new tables and cladding for an old service counter. They ran a linoleum sheet flooring throughout the space (the retro, pink-and-turquoise-flecked material is recalls ’80s-era hospitals and kitchens, but fits just right in this fun-loving coffee shop). But to stick with the owner’s conservative budget, Bidgood cut costs by utilizing industrial materials. Soon, the plans to keep the lime green wall and original flooring also changed. After considering square cutouts, Bidgood went with rounded off, arch-like shape, which she thought was a lot more inviting. Instead of taking it out completely, her team cut out sections that wouldn’t compromise the structural integrity of the 127-year-old building. “It’s a really old commercial building, so all of the plumbing and the electrical from the upper floors run through that wall,” explains Bidgood. ![]() The full-on demo dream died when they saw what was behind the wall. The dream was to keep the original café as-is (lime green feature wall, worn maple flooring and all) and demolish the wall between the two spaces. “It was a squishy space, which was part of the appeal,” says the designer.īut when the equally long, equally narrow space next door became available, Hey Happy owner Rob Kettner jumped at the opportunity for a little more elbow room. The café in downtown’s Market Square was known for having a friendly vibe, serving up great coffee, and being nearly impossible to sit down in. “Everyone in Victoria knows Hey Happy,” says Kyla Bidgood, principal designer of Bidgood and Co. He explains how to effect desperately needed changes, offering a wealth of innovative and specific interface ideas for software designers, developers, and product managers.
